Deaconess Gateway Hospital
Central Lobby Art Installation
The Deaconess Gateway Hospital lobby is
well known for its expansive open floor
plan and unique curved walls.
I was commissioned to design custom artwork
that would wrap this unique space.
Designing for the area had it’s challenges.
Not only were the walls curved floor to
ceiling, they also had a support column in
front of each areas.
Creating a visual centerpiece that
spanned both curved walls while remaining
unique allows the viewer to visualize
the space as a whole, yet see each section
individually. The artwork was installed in
individual acrylic tiles that were thin enough
to conform to the curved surface.
Color, shape and form carry the space and
create visual exploration and interest.
